There are many things that can happen on a first date and aside from that you will have a number of emotions to deal with. For those first time daters, they might feel nervous and jittery. For those who have high expectations, they might end up disappointed. Some first dates are never followed by second or third dates simply because of some unfortunate events that took place that could've discouraged your date. It is really disappointing to end up only up to the first date. So if you want your first dates to be a success, here are a few tips.

1. Keep your expectations at a minimum. Yes, it is natural for us to expect something but it will do us good if we keep it at a minimum. Expecting too much can result to a letdown especially if your date is not what you expected him or her to be. When you expect too much, you might unconsciously cause tension between you and your date. So whenever you go dating for the first time, remember to keep your expectations low.

2. Be on time. Make a very good impression; always be on time. When it is your first, it is essential to arrive early or on time. It is rather rude to make someone wait. Aside from making a good impression if you arrive on time you will have enough time to chat with your date as well as show them that you care and appreciate the time they set aside for your date to take place.

3. Dress code. Not that there is a particular dress code for first dates, but it would be a plus if you dress appropriately. Depending on where your date will be, your get up should coincide with it. For women, don't dress as if you're inviting him to your room on your first date. You can go casual, sophisticated and chic or sporty just as long as you don't give the wrong impression.

4. Honesty. Remember that this is really important. Even if it's just your first date, you will never know if there's going to be a second or third one and it is of importance that you be honest. When you share things about yourself, be honest. If you're talking about your childhood, don't make up some scenario wherein you're the hero just to impress your date. Honesty is important because when you lie and he or she finds out, then don't expect any more dates much more a relationship with him or her. Remember that honesty is the cornerstone of trust.

5. Interest. When you converse with your date do not forget eye contact. Look at him or her instead of veering away because you might send the wrong message of disinterest or boredom. You know it causes pressure for one to make the date interesting so if you look interested, then he or she will be encouraged to converse with you longer. Do not forget that the first date is like the “getting to know you stage” so the more you guys talk the more you'll find out about each other.
