Washing your intimates is not as easy as popping it into the machine and letting the machine do its work. Using the machine will save a lot more time but by doing so you are subjecting your precious intimates to too much stress. Frequently washing your intimates using machines will surely shorten its lifespan and before you know it you will discover your underwear having loose garters or ripped edges.

When it comes to washing your intimate apparel you should be gentle. Just like bathing a baby, your intimates also need tender loving care if you want it to last longer. Here are a few tips that will surely help you.

1. Different manufacturers have different washing guidelines. Before you pop your lingerie into the sink to wash it, check the tags first. Most of the time washing guidelines for a particular set of clothing are found on the tags attached to it. This tag may look insignificant but mind you by following the things written on it you will surely lengthen the life span of your precious lingerie. It may instruct you to soak your clothing first or use warm water. It may also indicate the type of soap you should use when washing.

2. Check if some of your lingerie and other underwear are colorfast. This is very important in order to keep your intimates from having color stains. Aside from washing intimates with the same color together it would also be good if you check it for color fastness. How to check for it? Simply wet a small portion of the clothing and let it drip over a white cloth preferably a scrap. This will save you from the dilemma of having your other garments tainted with various colors.

3. Use the right detergent. There are a lot of detergents available in the market and some may be too strong for lingerie and other intimates. For you to be able to know what type of detergent is best, check on the manufacturer's recommendation and at the same time check on the detergent's label. It would be best if you use detergents with mild ingredients when washing your intimates.

4. Never place it in a washing machine. If you want your intimates to last longer, hand wash it in the sink. Machine washing is really not advisable especially for fine bras or bras with under wires as these can get all deformed while inside the machine. Remember that the machine works by swirling the clothes around and if put your bra in it, the wires may get all twisted and the fine fabrics torn.

The longevity of your intimate apparel will depend on how you take care of it. So if you want to save yourself from constantly buying new lingerie, follow those simple steps and you will be amazed with the results.
