Taking Care Of Your Lingerie

What a woman wears underneath is just as important as the clothes she wears daily. Good undergarments make one woman feel comfortable, secure and even sexier. Generally, anything that is worn should be used and washed with care. But a special care is tendered for undergarments because of the type of cloth used and the materials that they are made of. Lingerie is highly vulnerable to wear and tear so there are instructions on how they should be washed which are usually attached to it. You don't have to go over those instructions one by one at a time, read the following tips for proper washing and care instructions.

Your lingerie will almost always include a label or a guide which would indicate the care instructions. It is safe to read them as well before wearing them or before washing them. These are recommended to make your lingerie live a long time so it is a must that it should be carefully followed.

The basic principle also indicates that hot water washing can damage your undergarments. It can shrink them by a maximum to 20%. The detergent used to wash them must be mild at all times because some contain harsh chemicals that can be damaging to your lingerie.

In the presence of dull stains, it is advisable to spread some lemon juice on it and shortly expose it to the sun because it will remove the stain.

Machine wash must be avoided but if the damage is almost done, make sure that the lingerie is placed inside its lingerie or mesh bag so that it avoids direct contact with the machine's agitator that can permanently damage its underwire and can cause twisting and stretching to the garment.

Wringing lingerie is also a big no-no! It can cause permanent creases, lines and wrinkles. Squeezing them gently or pressing the lingerie between towels and allowing the lingerie to dry would be a lot better. Putting them inside your machine's dryers will shorten their use because of shrinkage.

The best way to dry your undergarments is simply hanging them to air dry. Do not allow too much exposure directly under the heat of the sun. Putting them directly under the heat of the sun can easily damage the straps and the whole lingerie as it is. Storing your lingerie is another story and it is best to still handle them with proper care even if its time to keep or store them.

Storing them away from other clothes, creating a drawer that's enough for them and allowing them to breathe are all a must-do. A small drawer is perhaps suitable for your lingerie. Have this scented with a mild, fragrant potpourri to add a little drama and romance to your undergarments. Do not store them in bags where they could no longer breathe. Storing them in a closet with ample amount of air will be perfect.

Lingerie has become some of the women's best friends. Definitely if a lot of care is placed on other important things, this should also be one of them!
